i am tomtom
Hello, my name is Tomtom.  I was bestowed with this moniker by my 3 darling nieces about 5 years ago when I met Cher,
who is today my beautiful wife.

Imagine my surprise about 3  years ago to suddenly start hearing "TomTom says turn right", and "TomTom says bear left at the next intersection" from TV and radio commercials, on a fairly regular basis. I quickly discovered that there was a new gadget on the market.  A company started in 1991 in Amsterdam apparently had my name before I did.  A new gadget could identify your position on a global scale, direct you to locations far far away, and solve your problems  by recommending businesses, services, and other solutions along the way. Here's a link for the OTHER TomTom - GPS Navigation Unit

What to do now!!!  "TomTom" became synonymous with being able to provide directions and global positions in an instant, guiding people to any destination and helping them figure out just how lost they were.  "I have a TomTom" became the traveller's saving grace, helping them to figure out where they were, where they were going, and what to find along the way.

Oh, the pressure of it all to be a "TomTom".  My family and friends are now always expecting me to guide them and deliver them solutions, even beyond directions, to their problems.  My brother-in-law's favorite saying is now "I have a Tomtom".  I'm expected to know the answer to any question, solve any problem, and fix anything that is broken.

Well, fortunately I'm a Super-Genius (Roadrunner fans will appreciate that one) and have been able to work my way through, or at least survive the colossal demands that have been placed upon me (usually in Wylie Coyote style, of course).

So for all you geeks (wish I were one of you ;-)  )  that claim "I have a TomTom" I just want to say ..........

APPRECIATE YOUR TOMTOM!!!!

It's not easy being a Tomtom!
